Requirements for the Transit Operator position include:

•  A, B, C, or D class Ontario Driver’s License (B or C preferred)

•  Air Brake Endorsement (Z)

•  Excellent customer service  and communication skills

•  Minimum of 2,000 hours driving experience with an A, B, C, or D class vehicle

•  Safe driving record with zero point accumulation

•  Grade 12 diploma or the equivalent 

•  Familiarity with the City of London

•  Available to work a variety of shifts*

* Shifts vary and are selected by seniority. New Operators will be required to work a variety of shifts including split shifts, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

General Service Positions

 

At London Transit, our General Service employees are committed to safety and service excellence and play a key role in cleaning and maintaining our state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and grounds. Join our team of General Service employees and help ensure our buses are on the road every day providing a clean and safe service to our customers!

General Service employees are responsible for completing the following job functions:

-    Primary duties include lead hand when assigned, servicing and cleaning of fleet vehicles;

-    Minor repairs to vehicles (examples lights, mirrors, wipers, etc.) and assist skilled trades persons as required;

-    Change engine, transmission, differential and cooling system fluids, as well as replenishes the fluids in the hydraulic system and lubricates fleet vehicles;

-    Removes and replaces wheels and rims on fleet vehicles if he/she has received appropriate Director of Fleet & Facilities approved training;

-    Carry out service calls, bus change-offs, and out of service calls;

-    Washing and cleaning of plant, equipment and fleet vehicles;

-    Grounds maintenance, scrap and garbage removal and maintenance of plant equipment as required

-    Operating (with proper training) fork lift, skid steer, bobcat, sweeper/scrubber.

-    Shoveling snow and salting sidewalks

-    Other duties as assigned

Requirements for the General Service position include:

•  A, B, C, or D class Ontario Driver’s License (B or C preferred)

•  Previous light mechanical experience

•  Grade 12 diploma or the equivalent

•  Demonstrated customer service  skills

•  Ability to work in a team environment

•  Ability to work afternoon or midnight shifts*

* Only afternoon shifts (3pm to 11pm) or midnight shifts (11pm to 7am) may be vacant and some positions rotate on 10 hour shifts. Day shifts are currently not available.

Licensed 310T Truck and Coach Mechanics

 

At London Transit, our Mechanics play a vital role in ensuring our buses move people to their desired destinations comfortably and safely every day. Join our team of Mechanics at London Transit to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair our state-of-the-art buses and keep them reliably on our roads providing a great service to our customers!

Requirements for the Mechanic position include:

•  310T Truck and Coach License

•  G class Ontario Driver’s License (mandatory upgrade to C License upon commencement of employment)

•  Air Brake Endorsement (Z)

•  Related diesel experience (Cummins preferred)

•  Grade 12 diploma or the equivalent

•  Demonstrated customer service  skills

•  Ability to work in a team environment

•  Ability to work afternoon or midnight shifts*

*Only afternoon shifts (3pm to 11pm) or midnight shifts (11pm to 7am) may be vacant and some positions rotate on 10 hour shifts. Day shifts are currently not available.

Following confirmation of minimum requirements, candidates will be invited to participate in an assessment at London Transit. Candidates must successfully achieve the required grade on the assessment in order to proceed further in the recruitment process. Candidates that meet the minimum requirements and achieve the required grade on the related assessment will advance in the recruitment process. Candidates that do not achieve the required grade on the assessment will not be eligible to re-apply until a 1 year waiting period is complete.
